As if Dimension Films didn’t already have enough garbage on their upcoming slate, they’re going ahead and adding yet another tired horror remake onto the pile as Bloody-Disgusting discovered that they are planning to remake The Amityville Horror . This comes only four years after the Platinum Dunes produced remake directed by Andrew Douglas grossed over $100 million internationally. Without specifics mentioned, there’s apparently already a director in talks to develop the project, but with all the problems the Weinstein’s have had recently with delayed pictures and halted production , who knows when this could get off the ground? The original 1979 film was based on a 1977 book of the same name which claims to be a true story based on the real life paranormal experiences of the Lutz family, but has garnered much debate about its accuracy. The 2005 film is a remake of the original film, as well as its own adaptation of the book which focuses on the events leading up to November 13, 1974, when Ronald DeFeo, Jr. shot and killed his family at their home, 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, a suburban neighborhood located on the south shore of Long Island, New York.
